Syracuse Volleyball Drops Fourth Straight in Loss to Clemson

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Entering Friday’s match against Clemson (15-10, 3-10 Atlantic Coast Conference), Syracuse volleyball (13-10, 5-8 ACC) was in a bit of a rut, having lost its last three matches. The Orange, despite their best efforts, could not climb out of that rut and fell to the Tigers in four sets.
“I think we’ve got to look at the big picture,” SU head coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam said. “We’ve got to also see where we came from and where we are right now and what we’re facing.”
“We understand that this can happen,” Ganesharatnam continued. “Realistically, this could have even happened earlier in the season…The good thing is, we know that and now we need to focus on what we need to…improve and to get out of this cycle.”
Right-side hitter Sydnie Waller echoed Ganesharatnam’s assessment.
“I think it’s just taking every match day-by-day,” Waller said. “Not letting the past dictate our future and not letting our future dictate the present. Yeah, we lost last weekend, but it wasn’t really on the forefront of our mind going into today. Today, we were focused on Clemson and our game plan against them and what we can do to come out successful.
Things don’t get any easier for Syracuse when Georgia Tech (12-10, 7-6 ACC) comes to town on Sunday. The Yellow Jackets, while not ranked, received votes in the latest AVCA Poll.
