Louisville, Ky. | No. 15 Syracuse Women’s Lacrosse (2-3, 1-2 ACC) is hitting its stride. SU comfortably defeated Louisville (2-4, 0-3 ACC) 13-10 on Saturday thanks to an impressive offensive showing.

SU outshot Louisville 33-22 and was wildly more efficient. The Orange put a whopping 28 shots on goal compared to just 16 from the Cardinals.

If it wasn’t for a 15-save performance from Louisville freshman Hailey Richards, the Orange could have easily reached the 20-goal mark.

Midfielder Molly Guzik tallied a career-high four goals just days after earning her first career hat trick. Fellow middie Alexa Vogelman added two of her own, her first goals of the season.

Aside from Guzik and Vogelman, SU showed just how much it could spread the wealth. Seven other Orange players tallied one goal apiece. Neither Emma Muchnick nor Caroline Trinkaus, SU’s two leading scorers from a season ago, recorded a point.

The SU defense also did its part, causing 19 turnovers in the win. SU benefited hugely off those caused turnovers, because it was far from the best showing from goalie Daniella Guyette.

Guyette allowed 10 goals on 16 shots faced and recorded a sub-40 save percentage for the second straight game. The SU netminder saved just two of nine shots faced in Tuesday’s win over Loyola Maryland (2-3, 1-0 Patriot League)

Louisville stayed in the game in large part because of Guyette’s struggles and because it dominated the draw. The Cardinals won 17 of 25 draw controls. But it didn’t matter. The SU attack was too much.

The Orange rattled off five in a row after allowing the game’s first goal, after which they never trailed again. The Cardinals stormed back in the second quarter and tied the game at six early in the third, but SU scored four straight to close the frame and put it out of reach.

Syracuse returns to the Dome to host California (3-2, 1-0 ACC) on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
