All that awaits Syracuse women’s basketball is Selection Sunday after S.U. fell to North Carolina State 83-58 in the first round of the A.C.C. Tournament on Thursday, Mar. 2.

The Orange kept the matchup tight through the first half, but a 23-point third quarter carried the Wolfpack to a massive lead, and an even more drastic 28-point fourth quarter sealed the deal.

Five different N.C. State scorers elevated above the 10-point marker in guard Madison Hayes, guard Jakia Brown-Turner, guard Aziaha James, center Camille Hobby, and center River Baldwin. Hayes and James finished with 10, Baldwin with 14, and Brown-Turner and Baldwin led the entire game in scoring with 16.

S.U. forward Dariauna Lewis turned a bright page for the Orange hitting five field goals for 11 points.

Syracuse showcased its worst shooting capabilities of the entire season making just three of 20 from beyond the arc.

The Wolfpack also dominated the boards grabbing 41 to the Orange’s 18.

The near future for the Cuse remains uncertain. Currently listed as E.S.P.N.’s first team out, the Orange can only wait for Selection Sunday to find out if they will have any role in the Big Dance besides being viewers. If S.U.’s March Madness hopes fall short, the possibility of a bid in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (W.N.I.T.) remains.
