TALLAHASSEE, F.L. – The 28th-ranked Syracuse women’s cross country team continued its strong season by finishing fourth at the ACC championships. The Orange were bested by defending NCAA Champion and second-ranked North Carolina State, eighth-ranked Notre Dame, and tenth-ranked Virginia, but improved upon last year’s team finish by two places.

Redshirt Junior Savannah Roark led the way for the Orange, completing the 6000-meter course in 20:01.8 to finish ninth. That performance earned Roark All-ACC honors for the second year in a row.

Fellow redshirt junior, Rylie Lusk, was the second finisher for the Orange in her first ACC Championships after transferring to Syracuse from Weber State. Lusk placed 30th in a time of 20:43.6.

Rounding out the scoring five for the Orange were redshirt senior Sophia Jacobs-Townsley (20:50.8) in 38th, senior Madison Neuner (21:01.5) in 48th, and sophomore Emma Eastman (21:11.1) in 54th.

Syracuse will continue their postseason on November 10 at New York City’s historic Van Cortlandt Park, where they will compete for the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship. The top two finishing teams at the regional meet will automatically qualify for the NCAA National Championships in Madison, Wisconsin. The Orange are currently ranked second in the northeast (behind Harvard) and will hope to advance the team to the national meet for the third consecutive year.
