Number 8 Syracuse did not play a game this weekend, but the group has shifted its focus to Duke. The Blue Devils are a team that the Orange handled in two meetings in the Fall, so SU looks to pick up where it left off. Now, Syracuse has been hot to start the spring season. The Orange are winners of two straight games and scored at least 3 goals in each contest. SU has also been dominant in other facets. Let’s take a look at the numbers:

Seven

I hinted at it earlier but 7 goals in two games is nothing to scoff at. This Orange team is an offensive juggernaut. Led by Chiara Gutsche and Pleun Lammers, the Syracuse attack is producing at a tremendous rate. While Saint Joseph’s and Towson may not be comparable to North Carolina or Louisville, it’s a positive sign that SU is putting up stellar offensive numbers and taking care of business.

Two

Two is a smaller number and while Syracuse has won 2 straight, that’s not what this is referring to. Junior SJ Quigley has two assists in two games. The midfielder is picking up right where she left off, distributing for her teammates left and right. In the fall, the Pennsylvania native had 4 assists in 9 games, including 2 in the final 2 contests. Quigley carrying that momentum over into the spring is certainly promising for the Orange as they enter ACC play.

Four

Goals, goals, goals. I simply can’t stop mentioning how good Syracuse is at putting the ball in the back of the net. While 7 scores through 2 games is a great number, 4 combined goals from attackers Chiara Gutsche and Pleun Lammers is something to acknowledge. Plus, Lammers won ACC Co-Offensive Player of the Week last week. The two forwards have been fantastic for the Orange, and if they keep producing, Syracuse is in a great spot.
