SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Another day, another loss for Syracuse Tennis. SU (4-8) was swept by #12 NC State (11-3) 7-0 in Raleigh. The Orange haven’t won a dual in nearly a month, last winning in February against Virginia Tech.
Today was a bummer from start to finish for Syracuse. The Orange started off the day by getting shut out in doubles play. Viktoriya Kanapatskaya and Natalie Novotna fell 1-6 to NC State’s No. 1 duo of Anna Rogers and Alana Smith.
If that was not enough, the Wolfpack followed that up with a 6-2 victory over SU’s Miranda Ramirez and Guzal Yusupova.
Singles play was more the same for the Orange. Following a loss in doubles play, Vikoritya Kanapatskaya was slotted into the No. 1 singles spot. She was unable to secure a win, losing 0-6, 5-7 to NC State’s Anna Rogers.
Over to the No. 2 singles, Guzal Yusupova, she lost 6-7, 5-7 to Alana Smith who currently ranks #23 in the ITA player poll.
The rest of the slate was the same result for Syracuse. Natalie Novotna continued her cold season in what was an 0-6, 3-6 loss to Adriana Reamani while Miranda Ramrez was the only SU player to extend their singles match to three sets.
However, Ramirez ended up losing 5-7. 6-1. 5-7 effort in what was valiant, but not good enough effort for the American. To round out the dual, Zeynep Erman lost 4-6, 3-6 to NC State’s Lexi Keberle while Polina Kozyreva lost 5-7, 1-6 to the Wolfpack’s Abigail Rencheli.
The Orange are off this week, however, next up for the team is a date with Georgia Tech down in the Peach State. Match time is at 4 p.m.
