MIAMI, F.L. – It was a quick turnaround on the road for Syracuse Tennis (2-1, 0-0 Atlantic Coast Conference) against Florida International (0-0, 0-0 Conference USA). SU came off a 6-1 loss to Florida Atlantic on Friday, and made the trip slightly south of Boca Raton to Miami for a match against FIU.

After Syracuse was swept in doubles on Friday, it was looking for a bounce back. But, the Orange were once again swept in doubles by the Panthers. FIU took the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles matches 6-2 and 6-4, respectively to win the point.

In singles play, SU went down early. The Orange dropped the first set in all 6 of their singles matches. That meant they had to push a third set in four of those matches. SU No. 6 Haram Kim was the first to finish, falling 6-2 in the second set. Shortly after, No. 1 Anastasia Sysoeva dropped her second set and SU went down 3-0.

No. 2 Nelly Knezkova lost the second set, putting SU in a 4-0 disadvantage and a loss to FIU. No. 4 Leena Bennetto and No. 5 Emma Scaldalai both dropped their second sets, making it 6-0 in favor of FIU.

The last chance for the Orange to not be shutout was No. 3 Monika Wojcik, who played for an extra 40 minutes after the previous match ended. But, the sophomore lost and SU was swept 7-0 by FIU and fell to 2-2 on the season.

Syracuse returns home on Saturday for a match with Massachusetts at 11am. For live coverage, follow @evan_zaretsky and @citrustvsports on X/Twitter and Youtube for coverage!
