Syracuse Volleyball dropped its 13 straight matches earlier today. SU fell on the road to NC State in straight sets earlier today. The Orange now fall to 2-22 and 0-14 in ACC play so far this season.
Syracuse started the match well. SU was able to take NC State out of its system and the two teams split the first 18 points. However, from that point, it didn’t take long for the Wolfpack to find their rhythm. NC State would go on a 9-0 run and that was all it needed. The Wolfpack would close out the set 25-15. Syracuse was only able to post 6 kills in the first compared to 18 from NC State.
Set two was the closest set of the match. Syracuse once again started well, even getting an early 7-5 lead. But that did not phase NC State. The Wolfpack would respond with a 10-2 run to give them a six-point lead. However, the Orange responded. The Two teams would go back and forth and SU would cut the lead to 20-19. But once again, Syracuse did not have enough gas to finish the set. Similar to what has happened all season, SU would drop five of the next six points. NC State would edge out the second 25-20.
The second set momentum would carry over to the third. NC State would take an early 5-2 lead. Syracuse tried to respond but NC State was too good. The Wolfpack would build a 14-5 advantage which would be the set out of reach. The Orange played well at times in the third but couldn’t make up the deficit. NC State rolled to a 25-14 third set and completed the sweep.
The Orange have four games remaining this season. All of them are against ACC opponents. They come back home on Friday to take on Florida State.
