MADISON, W.I. – After falling to 25th in the USTFCCCA rankings, the Syracuse Women’s Cross Country team turned in a 20th-place finish at Wisconsin’s Nuttycombe Invite.
The Orange were one of 22 ranked teams at the event, with #2 Northern Arizona winning the meet. Syracuse scored 480 points in the meet, beating out ACC foes in North Carolina and Duke, who finished in 21st and 22nd respectively.
Redshirt Junior Savannah Roark led the charge for the ‘Cuse, posting the team’s best finish with a 20:50.9 6k that was good for 63rd overall. Redshirt Senior Sophia Jacobs-Townsley also finished under 21 minutes at 87th place for a time of 20:56.8. Rounding out the rest of the scoring for the Orange were Rylie Lusk at 106th, Olivia Joly at 111th, and Madison Neuner at 118th.
Syracuse will have one more regular season meet this week with the John Reif Memorial meet at Cornell. Last year, both the men’s and women’s teams came away with a victory. The Orange will hope to duplicate that result to gain some momentum before the ACC Championship meet on October 27th.
