Syracuse loses on senior day 4-0 to Lindenwood

A common sight at hockey rinks in this: a puck. Well today Syracuse (13-14-3, 9-9-2 in Atlantic Hockey America) traded in pucks for flowers to celebrate the class of 2026.

While SU had a day filled with emotion, it ultimately dropped its senior day celebration four to nothing to Lindenwood.

The Orange wanted three points, but also wanted to celebrate the seniors who helped shape the Orange program.

“We have a couple transfers, we have four who have been here for the last four years, we’ve got goalies, forwards, defense,” said Smith. “A very diverse group. Like I said, it’s important you want to get the win for them, but regardless, it’s really important that we celebrate their time here. I know their teammates are proud of them and their coaching staff’s proud of them. We’ve got a lot of hockey left to play. Today’s game does not depict their careers, and I think it’s important that we understand what we’re battling. Not next weekend, we’ve got off, but we’re right back at it, and we’ve got more to do this season for them.”

I think, as soon as they scored one, then it got all, like, chippy,” said Knoll. “We fed into their game. They’re, like, a very dirty, not dirty, but very chippy and talkative team. They got in our heads, I’d say.”

The loss sees SU miss the chance to leapfrog RIT into third place in the AHA.

Coincidentally, Syracuse plays Rochester (14-13-0, 9-9-0 in Atlantic Hockey America) in two weeks from now at Tennity Ice Pavilion for another big AHA playoff series. Puck drop for that game is at 6 o’clock.
