Sometimes in tennis the score sheet doesn’t tell the true story of the full match.
Well, in today’s 6-1 win of Syracuse over Fordham that was exactly the case.
The Orange were pushed to three sets in two of their singles matches, and unlike last season against the Rams, they didn’t sweep all three of their doubles matches.
“Yeah I mean it was it was another another match where we got tested really pleased on how we bounced back from yesterday it’s never easy to play back-to-back matches like this and as you guys noticed the long matches but a lot of resilience from the team we were down in in some matches and came back and found a way so really pleased from this weekend.”, SU Head Coach Younes Limam said.
Monika Wojcik stated, “I think we did really well starting off strong with the doubles some of the teams were pretty good as as we could tell but I think now playing more college tennis you realize how important that doubles point is and it does carry on into the singles as you
saw so yeah it worked out pretty well for us.”
That momentum helped mount comebacks for two Syracuse players in its singles matches Haram Kim and Anastasia Sysoeva.
It’s the fourth consecutive season the Orange start 2-0 and they improved to a 4-0 all-time against the Rams.
Syracuse will have a little bit of a rest until it heads down to Florida on January 30th for a match against Florida Atlantic University. But for now reporting from Drumlins, Evan Zaretsky, Citrus TV.
