#59 Syracuse Tennis matched up against #24 Wake Forest in the second round of the ACC Tournament on Thursday, but its season was abruptly ended after losing 4-1. After a first round bye, the Orange took on the Demon Deacons in a rematch of both teams’ first round of last year’s tourney, but the end result was the same.

The doubles point was over in a flash. #37 Miyuka Kimoto and Polina Kozyreva competed at the top seed, sporting the highest ranking of any player or pairing for SU in 2022, but registered but a single game against #7 of Anna Brylin and Brooke Killingsworth. 6-1 was the same score that Brylin and Killingsworth posted at the #1 court against Shiori Ito and Sonya Trescheva back when the two schools met in March. On Thursday, the #86 ranked freshman-senior duo were blanked against #37 Samantha Martinelli and Casie Wooten. With the doubles point already decided, Ines Fonte and Viktoria Kanapatskaya’s 3-1 lead over Mia Ahmad and Anna Campana was wiped away for the singles slate. T

In the 6-1 March matchup, Ines Fonte was beaten by Brooke Killingsworth in a third set. This time around, however, the sophomore got the last laugh, winning Cuse’s sole point of the afternoon on Court #6, 6-3, 6-2. The same could not be said for anyone else, though. #96 Casie Wooten dusted off Polina Kozyreva, 6-3, 6-0, followed shortly after by Anna Brylin topping Zeynep Erman, 6-3, 6-2. Then, when Anna Campana beat Miyuka Kimoto 6-4, 6-2, the Orange’s fate was sealed. Ito’s and Kanapatskaya’s matches were called off, as it was time for Syracuse to pack its bags. Trescheva did not compete in the singles slate, a trend for the senior, who finishes her Orange career with 70 career wins, 43 of those on the doubles court, as SU wraps up 2022 with a final record of 10-11.
