SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Volleyball will take an undefeated conference record on the road this weekend. The Orange have ACC matchups against Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.

Last week, the Orange were on fire, beating Boston College and Duke in back-to-back games.

“It never felt like we were not in control,” SU Head Coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam said. “It was exciting… It was great for the morale of the team going into the next couple matches.”

SU is one of four ACC teams that are still undefeated in conference play.

In other big news, Syracuse outside hitter Polina Shemanova is now 78 kills away from becoming the all-time kill leader in program history. Shemanova moved into second place on the leaderboard during Wednesday’s match against Boston College.

“It’s great for Polina, and it’s great for our program… She will be remembered for many years to come.”

Looking ahead, the first matchup of the weekend for Syracuse will be against Wake Forest.

The Demon Deacons were swept by #13 Georgia Tech on the road last weekend.

However, they followed up that loss by beating the Clemson Tigers in their next game.

“They’re very big… our work is going to be cut out for us, not just for our blockers, but for whoever is in the back row,” Coach Ganesharatnam said.

History does favor the Orange as they hold a 10-1 all-time record against the Demon Deacons.

To round out their road trip, the Orange will face off against Virginia Tech.

The Hokies hold an 8-5 overall record and split their first two conference games.

Just like Wake Forest, Virginia Tech also played against both Clemson and Georgia Tech last weekend, going 1-1 through the two games.

One player the Orange will want to key in on is the Hokies’ Hanna Borer. She tallied 18 assists and six digs against Georgia Tech last week. That performance helped her earn ACC freshman of the week.

The match against Wake Forest is this Friday at 7 p.m., while the match against Virginia Tech is on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Both matches this weekend will be streamed live on ACC Network Extra.
