Syracuse Tennis drops 4-3 heartbreaker to UMass

They say it’s not about how you start but rather how you finish and in Syracuse  tennis’s 4-3 loss to UMass today that is exactly what happened. The Orange won the doubles point and then followed that up by winning four of six opening sets in singles but then the Minute Women started to flip the script. They then took four of six in the second set but at the end of the day it all came down to a decisive match in the third set with Lenna Bennetto and Martina Passovich tied at six apiece in a tie-breaking point to win the match. Let’s see how it went.

Bonetto was up five points to two in that last tie-breaking game but then fell 7-6 and the Orange dropped the match to UMass. Head coach Younes Liman is still proud on how the grad student performed though.

“Obviously it was a very physical match, very proud of Lenna. I thought she she did a tremendous job hanging in there, saved three match points, could have turned that match around but that’s how tennis goes sometimes and sports you know we the other girl had the momentum then we were able to shift that momentum a little bit but unfortunately came up a little bit short.

Syracuse can bounce back when it’s right back here at Drumlins tomorrow against Boston University at 11 o’clock but for now reporting from Drumlins I’m Evan Zaretsky, CitrusTV.
