“It feels good to win” said Coach John Desko after today’s game. Syracuse found itself back in the win column after two losses in a row. It was a gritty, defensive game against UAlbany, but the Orange scraped it out to grab their fifth win of the season.

On paper, Cuse dominated the ball, something they lacked last week against Notre Dame. Syracuse had 27 shots on goal, but only 13 making the back of the net. Albany found a few hot streaks during the game, but the Orange were ultimately able to hold them off for the win.

Jakob Phaup went 9-13 on faceoffs today, coming back into form after a little bit of a slump. Phaup said he credits that improvement after he returned to New Jersey this week to practice with his coach after several frustrating games.

Goalie Drake Porter notched 13 saves in net off of 20 shots on goal for the Great Danes. Brendan Curry and Chase Scanlan both logged hat tricks and Stephen Rehfuss had two goals and two assists as well. Freshman Owen Hiltz grabbed his first goal since Duke on March 25th. Tucker Dordevic, Lucas Quinn, Griffin Cook and Jacob Buttermore also each added a goal of their own.

While the Orange struggled offensively, their defensive effort continues to prove strong. Syracuse will have tough test when they #3 North Carolina in the Dome next Saturday.
