Syracuse Women’s Lacrosse took care of business earlier today down in Charlotte. SU took down Louisville 17-8. This game was very similar to the regular season clash between these two teams. The Cardinals stayed close at the start, but once the Orange found its rhythm. Louisville could not keep up.

The Orange opened the scoring with goals from Emma Muchnick and Natalie Smith. Now, the Cardinals responded with three straight goals to take the lead. However, from that point on it was all Orange. Syracuse’s offense exploded with a 6-0 run to give itself an 8-3 lead after the first 15 minutes. That six-goal run was all SU needed. While the Cardinals did hang around, the Orange never felt threatened.

Syracuse’s team offense stole the show once again. The Orange had nine different goal scores. Grad student Emma Tyrrell led the way with four goals and two assists. Over the last month, it seems that Tyrrell can do no wrong. The midfielder has managed to tally a hat trick in eight of the last ten games. Another player who stood out was draw control specialist Kate Mashewske. The grad student had 15 draw controls. In the process, the program’s all-time draw control leader made more history. Mashewske recorded her 500th career draw control. The grad student becomes the ninth player in Division One history to reach the 500 club.

Syracuse awaits the winner of North Carolina and Virginia. The Orange beat both of those teams during the regular season.
