Centre County, PA – Syracuse (4-6, 4-2 College Hockey America) capped off a confident weekend on Sunday with a 5-2 win at Penn State (4-7-1, 0-4 CHA). The Orange have won consecutive games after taking then-No. 2 Clarkson to overtime last Saturday.

Sunday’s game was easily Syracuse’s most dominant performance of the season. The Orange outshot the Nittany Lions 34-20. With the exception of two goals in the span of thirty seconds early in the second period, Penn State had no answer to the onslaught of SU offensive pressure.

The scoring was spread out on the Syracuse side. Eight players recorded at least one point and two players, Allie Munroe (two assists) and Brooke Avery (one goal, one assist), tallied multiple points.

When CHA play resumes for the Orange on Nov. 16th against RIT, Syracuse will be in prime position to move up in the conference standings. With Sunday’s win, SU only trails Robert Morris (6-5-1, 4-1-1 CHA) by one point for second.

Syracuse is in a good position early in the CHA this season because of its excellent play away from Tennity Ice Pavilion. All four SU wins this season have come on the road against conference opponents.

But as the Orange return home for a non-conference weekend series against Princeton (3-2-1, 3-0-1 Eastern College Athletic), Syracuse needs to improve its play on home ice. SU is 0-3 on campus and also lost its exhibition game at Tennity Ice Pavilion before the season began.

Syracuse hosts Princeton on Saturday and Sunday next weekend. The puck drops for both games at 2 p.m.
