Last season, Syracuse Tennis battled Florida State up at Drumlins Country Club. The Orange came in 7-0 and won 4-3 to extend their win streak and keep the undefeated season alive. Today, the story was different. SU lost to FSU in a 7-0 sweep down in Tallahassee.

Syracuse had opportunities to fight back in the match and make it a competitive contest but in the end, the Seminoles dominated from start to finish. Both doubles wins for the ‘Noles came by a 6-3 score, and left #3 doubles unfinished in a 4-4 tie. In singles, the Orange couldn’t get anything going. Three players lost in straight sets. Emilie Elde (0-6, 1-6), Shiori Ito (2-6, 3-6),  and Constance Levivier (4-6, 2-6) didn’t stand much of a chance against members of a top 40 program in the country. The other three for SU made it more competitive. Miyuka Kimoto, Viktoriya Kanapatskaya, and Anastasia Sysoeva all kept their matches competitive and forced third-set tiebreakers. Unfortunately for the Orange, the ball never bounced their way. Kimoto lost her tiebreaker 11-9, Kanapatskaya lost hers 10-6, and Sysoeva fell 10-2.

Overall it was a difficult match for Syracuse, and with every match being played and finished out, it concluded to be tied for the worst loss for Syracuse this season. Up next for Syracuse is a trip down from Tallahassee to Coral Gables when the Orange face the 21st ranked Hurricanes Sunday at 11. Miami comes in 7-4 on the season.
