Syracuse Volleyball fell 3-0 to Florida State earlier this afternoon. The Orange now finish their weekend road trip at 0-2. SU now falls to 2-18 on the season and 0-10 in ACC play.

The Seminoles started fast, grabbing an early 9-1 lead. Syracuse never found its footing in the opening set. The Orange only managed five kills while committing 10 errors. Syracuse tried to call timeout to break Florida State’s momentum but it only delayed the inevitable. In the Blink of an eye. FSU closed out the first set 25-12.

Set two was a little different. The Orange started much better but a mid-set run from the Seminoles gave them an 18-6 lead. From that point, it looked over. However, Syracuse responded in a big way. Freshman Zharia Harris-Waddy would serve three straight aces to cut the lead to eight. Syracuse would follow that up with a 6-0 run on Alyssa Bert’s serve to cut the lead to 3. However, the late run wasn’t enough. With the set tied at 24 Florida State would win the next two points to win the set 26-24.

Set three was tight to start. Both sides split the first 12. Syracuse stayed close only trailing 12-10 halfway through. However, once again, it wasn’t enough. FSU would take control from that point on and pull away. Syracuse would save three match points before falling 25-19.

A common theme throughout the match was Florida State’s net play. FSU tailed 13 blocks during the match which made life very difficult for SU. Syracuse was held to a hitting percentage of zero. However, Syracuse can walk away with some positives. The Orange served very well, especially in the latter stages of the second set. SU had 9 aces in the three sets. The Orange will be back at home on Friday. They will host another ACC foe in Clemson. First serve is for 6 pm.
