BLACKSBURG V.A. – The Orange entered the fourth quarter down two with a score of 52-50 against the #13 Hokies, but it was an all VT fourth quarter that saw SU get outscored 26-14, giving the game a final score of 78-64.

The final score is not indicative of the game as a whole. Syracuse actually went into halftime up one at 36-35, but the Cuse shot 29% from the floor in the second half and what looked like a possible ranked win, quickly turned into a crushing loss.

Buffalo transfers Dyaisha Fair and Georgia Woolley led the Orange with 20 and 18 points respectively. Alaina Rice, the only Orange holdover from last season to play in tonight’s game, scored 13 points.

Alabama A&M transfer Dariuana Lewis held her own on the glass, racking up 11 rebounds in 28 minutes off the bench. The forward was ultimately no match for Virginia Tech’s Elizabeth Kitley who put up a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds.

Temple transfer Kyra Wood had three blocks in the loss which tied her season high to go along with four rebounds. Buffalo transfer Saniaa Wilson and Georgia Woolley had the other two blocks on the night.

SU has been riddled with injuries lately and tonight was no different, it was announced shortly before tipoff that star guard Teisha Hyman would not play tonight due to the lower leg injury she sustained against Louisville on Sunday. Wichita State transfer Asia Strong was also ruled out prior to gametime and it was announced that she did not travel with the team to Blacksburg due to a lower leg injury.

The Orange fought long and hard, but ultimately got outplayed when crunch time came around. This loss dropped the Cuse to 0-4 against AP Top-25 teams this season.

Syracuse returns home to take on Boston College Sunday afternoon at 2:00. The Orange took down the Eagles on their home court 83-73 earlier in the season.
