Syracuse Women’s Cross Country Dominates at John Reif Memorial

ITHACA, N.Y. – #28 Syracuse Women’s Cross Country claimed five of the top six spots and 10 of the top 12 at Cornell’s John Reif Memorial meet on Friday. Justus Holden-Betts, who was running unattached, posted the quickest time across the five-kilometer Moakley Course, crossing the finish line at 17:43.2. Sophomore Caroline Kirby and Junior Bethany Steiner completed the podium for the Orange, clocking in at 17:58.9 and 18:07.3, respectively.
Barbora Svobodova, also running unattached, came in at fourth at just under 19 minutes. She was followed by Olivia Shattuck and Tess Fitzmaurice, who rounded out the top six for Syracuse. Further back, the four remaining SU runners grabbed spots nine through 12, with Senior Taylor Mascetta leading the way.
Friday’s showing was a continuation of the same meet last year for the Orange, where they took hold of the top six spots.
Syracuse is back in action on Friday in Tallahassee, Florida for the ACC Cross Country Championships. In 2022, the Orange placed sixth out of 15 teams, with their highest finisher, Savannah Roark, coming in at 15th, just past 15 seconds behind eventual national champion Katelyn Tuohy.
