The Syracuse Women’s Basketball team’s scheduled game against Division II Lincoln University (PA) was cancelled Wednesday night after moisture was found on the court, stemming from a leak found on the Carrier Dome roof. The game, scheduled for 6 PM, was moved to the Melo Center and was played as a private scrimmage instead.
“This decision was made after an abundance of caution after a game official spotted a few droplets of water on one area of the court,” the athletics department said in a statement. “We are in the final stages of the roof construction project, which includes spot sealing the roof. We look forward to quickly resolving this issue for tomorrow’s men’s basketball game.”
The Orange won the closed door scrimmage 90-39. Freshman Kamilla Cardoso led the team with 25 points, nine rebounds, and seven blocks. Fellow freshman Pricilla Williams added 24 points, while senior Tiana Mangakahia added eight points and eight assists in fifteen minutes of play.
The Carrier Dome roof was renovated this year at a cost of $118 million. It was completed in time for the Syracuse football season.
The Orange’s next scheduled game is Sunday at 2 PM against Penn State at the Carrier Dome. The men’s basketball team is scheduled to host Niagara on Thursday night at 7 PM. There is no word yet on the status of the Dome roof for the men’s game.

The women came into the day 1-0 on the season after a 50-39 win at Stony Brook on Sunday.
